About Us and Contacts

The Wellington Jazz Festival is an event of true international standard. Offering a broad jazz palette of leading international and New Zealand jazz artists, the Wellington Jazz Festival has a musical programme that is widely accessible to audiences. From contemporary and traditional jazz to soul, rhythm & blues, reggae, latin and gospel, this Festival will be not just for the aficionado but for a broad selection of tastes.

The Wellington Jazz and Music Festival Trust engages the New Zealand International Arts Festival (NZIAF) to provide administrative, marketing, production and programming services to get this event established on a professional world-class level. It provides inspiration to the jazz sector, increases performance prospects and provides professional development opportunities for New Zealand artists through collaboration with highly regarded international musicians.

The Wellington Jazz Festival is an event where the standard of performance is consistently high, with a spirit that is open and spontaneous. Audiences will be able to explore the diversity of music and recognize just how far jazz has spread its roots into the music we enjoy today. Hel biennially, the Festival is unique, has capacity for growth and firmly establishes Wellington as the events capital of New Zealand.

In 2011 the Festival hosted jazz legend Sonny Rollins on his first visit to New Zealand. Read more about his one-night-only performance here
